Distinguished and sophisticated, the studio design transports viewers into a premium experience presented by Bob Costas.

HBO’s new series Back on the Record with Bob Costas features revealing discussions and captivating conversations with some of the biggest names in sports, entertainment and popular culture, woven together through the legendary broadcaster’s signature interviewing style.

The environment for the show is just as unique. The stage is set, with all focus on the conversational content. An abstracted New York City skyline wraps the space. The architecture seems to float in the dark surroundings, falling away to focus all attention on the discussions taking place.

Each segment has a special home in the studio. The Panel Discussion becomes the keystone area, distinctly shot in the round, providing intimate view points, while differentiating the look of the show. Satellite areas flank the central round table, allowing a natural choreography from place to place as the show progresses.

Distinguished and sophisticated, the studio design transports viewers into a premium experience presented by Bob Costas. Jack Morton reprises the role of production designer, after having created the look for Bob’s original On the Record program in 2001, as well as Costas Now in 2006.
