Global brand experience agency Jack Morton Worldwide with the VWV Group, the South African-based experiential communication agency, has won the highly prized Grand Prix Award in the experiential live event category at the Loerie Awards 2010. The award recognises the agencies’ creative, production and technical achievement in creating the FIFA World Cup 2010 Closing Ceremony.
The internationally recognised South African Loerie Awards celebrate the best work produced across the brand communication industry. Just four of the highly prestigious and sought after Grand Prix Awards were won at this year’s competition, which saw a total of 267 prizes awarded.
The 32nd Annual Loerie Awards took place last weekend at the Good Hope Centre in Cape Town. The awards were judged by 160 local and international experts in their fields.
The Jack Morton team served as the creative, production and technical leads working alongside the South African production consortium led by VWV tasked with creating the World Cup Closing Ceremony. The ceremony took place at Soccer City Stadium in Soweto, Johannesburg on the 11th July this year. The partnership between Jack Morton and VWV previously produced the 2010 World Cup Opening Ceremony and the opening and closing ceremonies of the FIFA Confederations Cup in 2009. VWV is Jack Morton’s alliance partner in South Africa.
David Zolkwer, Jack Morton’s Director of Public Events and Creative Director for the South African ceremonies said “We had a great time working with our South African partners and we’re very pleased that the talents, skills and passion of an extraordinary international creative, production and technical team has been recognised in this way. We’re also delighted with the positive response both the Opening and Closing World Cup Ceremonies have received from the public and the international media”.
This is the second major award for the agency in less than two weeks – Jack Morton was also awarded Brand Experience Agency of the Year at the 2010 Event Awards in London on the 24th September.
